La educación y el cuidado infantil en cada país se está reinventado: educación en línea, “burbujas pandémicas”, programas al aire libre…. Las escuelas y guarderías están en continua transformación; proceso retador, abrumador, desgastador.
Al cambiar el semáforo, las esperanzas de directores, educadores, cuidadores, padres crecen: ¿regresaremos a una educación presencial? Los estudiantes en América Latina han sido los más afectados, en algunos países llevamos más de un año en que la presencialidad simplemente no es respuesta…propuestas muy diferentes surgieron en Asia, Europa y Estados Unidos.
LifeWays North America, lleva un año acompañando a profesionales de la educación en Estados Unidos en este cambio. Allá la presencialidad varía de acuerdo con el estado, la innovación y creatividad para lograr un cara a cara han estado muy presentes.

Mary es la presidenta de LifeWays North America. En el 2002, abrió el “Centro para la primera infancia LifeWays” en Milwaukee, del cual fue la directora por 13 años. Mary es egresada de la Universidad de Wisconsin-Madison. Es profesora y coordinadora de cursos y certificados para la organización. Ha enseñado a padres y maestros sobre el cuidado infantil en todo Estados Unidos e internacionalmente.
Es autora del libro “Observando al niño pequeño: una herramienta para una evaluación profunda” (Observing Young Children: A Tool for Meaningful Assessment.) y co- autora del libro “una segunda casa:LifeWays cuidados de niños y familias” (Home Away From Home: LifeWays Care of Children and Families) con Cynthia Aldinger (disponible gratis aquí 😊).
Mary dirige un programa de educación agrícola sin fines de lucro en “Paradise Farm” en West Bend Estados Unidos, donde ella y sus colegas proporcionan educación al aire libre para niños y adultos.

When the pandemic traffic light changes in a region, the hopes of principals, educators, caregivers, parents grow: will we return to an in-person education? Students in Latin America have been the most affected, in some countries we have been in lockdown for more than a year, in person education is simply not an answer… very different proposals have been developed in Asia, Europe and the United States.
LifeWays North America has been a big ally to education professionals in the United States. Even if in- person program change according to the state, innovation and creativity to achieve this has been very present.

Mary is the board president of LifeWays North America. In 2002, Mary opened LifeWays Early Childhood Center in Milwaukee where she served as director for 13 years. Mary is an alumni of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a traveling teacher and Training Coordinator for LifeWays North America. She has taught parents and childcare teachers all over the U.S. and internationally. In 2010, Mary co-authored Home Away From Home: LifeWays Care of Children and Families with Cynthia Aldinger, and in 2018 she authored Observing Young Children: A Tool for Meaningful Assessment. Most recently, Mary started a non-profit farm education program at Paradise Farm in West Bend, where she and her colleagues provide outdoor, farm-based education to children and adults.
